"Gatoto's Hanging Thing"

Este corto fue realizado por Belén Marmaneu, Juanmi Pérez, Luis Vázquez, Vicente Perpiñá, Víctor Gil y Sandra Ortuño (o sea, yo) para el Título Propio de Animación 2008-2009, concretamente para el curso que impartió Riho Unt (Nukufilm, Estonia). Además, fue ganador del segundo premio en la 1ª Mostra de Cine Lliure de la Impròpia (Valencia).

This short film was made by  Belén Marmaneu, Juanmi Pérez, Luis Vázquez, Vicente Perpiñá, Víctor Gil and Sandra Ortuño (that is me) for the Título Propio de Animación 2008-2009, specifically for the course given by Riho Unt (Nukufilm, Estonia). Moreover, it won seond prize at the  I Mostra de Cine Lliure de la Impròpia (Valencia).

"Proyecto 365" #001

Necesito dibujar muchísimo. No parar. ¿Y qué mejor manera que apuntándome a mí misma con una pistola en la sien para hacerlo? Ninguna, ¿verdad? Pues claro. Es por eso que he decidido empezar con el "Proyecto 365" (casi me quemo el cerebro de tanto pensar en el título), es decir, hacer, al menos, un dibujo al día, aunque sean bocetos, y publicarlo aquí. Así no pasaré un sólo día sin coger el lápiz.

I need to draw a lot. No stop. And what's better than pointing a gun to my own temple in order to do it? Nothing, right? Of course. That's whay I decided to start the "365 Project" (I nearly burn my brains thinking of the title), which is, making, at least, a drawing a day, even if it's just a sketch, and post it here. That way I won't pass a day without using the pencil.

There we go :)

II Concurso de Cortometrajes de RNE

Es para nosotros un motivo de orgullo y satisfacción el anunciar que "Salsito", nuestro pequeño pajarillo, ha sido galardonado con el primer premio del II Concurso de Cortometrajes de RNE (que consiste en ¡¡kinescoparnos la peli!!).

En esta página podéis escuchar a los dos pollos que somos nosotros hablando, muertos de la vergüenza (al menos Sandra), con Yolanda Flores y Toni Garrido por RNE. Pronto estará disponible el podcast del programa "De película", con Yolanda Flores también, donde volvimos a hablar otro poquito.

¡Muchas gracias a todos por vuestro a-pollo! Salsito se siente más querido que nunca en su vida (aunque eso no es demasiado difícil teniendo en cuenta el nivel de JB en sangre de su santa madre).

 

It's a great pleasure and honour for us to announce that "Salsito", our little birdie, has been awarded with the RNE II Short film Contest first prize (which consists of kinescoping the movie!!).

Thank you everybody for your kind support! Salsito is now feeling more loved than he's ever felt in his entire life (despite it not being so difficult considering his holy mother's blood JB level).

"Nurbs" (test de animación // animation test)

Aquí va una prueba de animación basada en la chinchilla de mi hombre, Nurbs. Hay ideas almacenadas en mi cabeza para hacer al menos un capitulito pero aún no las he puesto en papel.

Here's an animation test based on my man's pet chinchilla, Nurbs. I have some ideas stored in my brain for at least one episode but I haven't put them on paper, yet.

Hoy hemos estado montando la exposición que inauguramos mañana en Arte&Facto. No, no voy a publicar de momento las obras que expongo, así que tendréis que acudir durante este próximo mes a ver las mías y las de un puñado de artistazos como la copa de un pino. Además, si venís mañana a las 20h. tendréis vinito y pirraque. ¿Qué más queréis?

Por cierto, ¡también estamos en Balencia!

Today I've been setting up the exhibition we inaugurate tomorrow at Arte&Facto. No, I'm not going to publish the works I exhibit by now, so you'll have to drop by during this following month in order to see mine and a bunch of amazing artists's. And if you come tomorrow at 8pm, you'll have free wine and snacks. What else do you want?

By the way, we're in Balencia!

Salsito

¡Salsito! Este es el diseño del héroe personaje. En 3D (plastilina) cambió ligeramente, pero siguió conservando su tierna e inocente esencia pajaril.

Salsito! This is the design for the hero character. It changed a bit in 3D (clay), but withput loosing his tender and innocent essence.

Here's the design for the panthers of my end of degree final animation, Panthers in the Walls.

Caputxeta Vermella // Little Red Riding Hood

Esta es la primera versión de mi Caperucita Roja. Más adelante evolucionarán sus formas (como se puede ver en el banner del blog).

This is the first version of my Little Red Riding Hood. Later on her shapes will evolve (as you can see in the blog banner).

"Un ratón glotón"

Este fue el primer trabajo que realicé en el curso de ilustración profesional de la ESAT impartido por Carlos Ortín. Era una ilustración para un libro de relatos cortos para niños con cáncer... Sí, muy, muy chungo.

This was the first project I made during the professional illustration course at the ESAT given by Carlos Ortín. It was an illustration for a short story book for kids with cancer... Yeah, very, very difficult.

Sidhe, Naciso & Gominola

Estos son dos personajes para un cuento que no llegué a realizar. Era una historia basada ligeramente en hechos más o menos reales acontecidos en la residencia Emily Davies de Southampton (UK) durante el curso 2006-2007. Lamentablemente, el asunto no pasó de estos dibujos, un díptico y un tríptico (pronto los subiré también).

These are two characters for a storybook I didn't do in the end. It was a story lightly based on a more or less true story which took place at the Emily Davies hall in Southampton (UK) during 2006-2007. Unfortunately, the whole thing simply ended with these drawings, a diptych and a triptych (which I'll upload soon).

Este es el corto que realizamos Víctor y yo para el Título Propio de Animación (UPV) del curso 2008-2009. De momento, ha sido seleccionado y proyectado en el III Certamen de Cortometrajes de la Malvarrosa (Valencia, España) donde ganó el 1er premio, en Animated Dreams 2009 (Tallinn, Estonia), Cortocomenius 2009 (Valencia, España), Anima 2010 (Bruselas, Bélgica), Animac 2010 (Lleida, España), Cortomieres 2010 (Mieres, España) y Animabasauri 2010 (Bilbao, España).

Este curso me estoy centrando más en la ilustración. Llevaba desde 2006 prácticamente sólo haciendo animación, pero cuando septiembre llegó y sin ningún trabajo a la vista, decidí apuntarme al curso de Ilustración Profesional impartido en la ESAT.Lo cierto es que lo estoy disfrutando mucho y voy aprendiendo un montón de cosas muy útiles e interesantes. Nunca pensé que me fuera a atraer el trabajo como autónomo pero la verdad es que ahora pienso que ojalá pueda ganarme la vida así.

Aparte de este curso, el otro día encontré esto a través del blog de Melanie Matthews (que me gusta una barbaridad): The 12 Week Challenge. Básicamente serán una serie de "tutoriales" a seguir que pretenden darte la oportunidad de acercarte el máximo posible a la meta de convertirte en un ilustrador profesional. Lo llevan una pareja bastante adorable y ya están por la semana 4. He de decir que de momento sólo he completado la semana 1, 2 (la cual me resultó muy interesante puesto que propone crearse un OGSM plan - Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Measures) y 3. Con la 4 voy un poco por detrás y con el viaje que me voy a pegar desde mañana hasta el miércoles, aún me quedaré más en la cola. También existe una comunidad para el proyecto, por donde debería pasarme más. Creo que, sinceramente, esta parejita ha tenido una buena idea preparando todo esto y además, haciéndolo accesible a todo el mundo. Me caen bastante bien.

Aparte de Zero2illo, me gustaría por último recomendar Escape from Illustration Island y sus dos tutoriales (de momento) para la creación de un buen portfolio aquí y aquí. ¡A ver si todo esto me sirve de empujón final para que de este año no pase el hacerme la página web!

This year I'm focusing more on illustration. I had been practically just doing animation since 2006, but September came and I still had no job, so I decided to sign up for the Professional Illustration course given at the ESAT. Truth is, I'm really enjoying it and I'm learning tons of useful and interesting stuff. I never thought I'd be attracted to the freelance way of life but, actually, now I wish I could be able to make a living out of my artwork that way.

Apart from that course, I found this the other day at Melanie Matthews's blog (whose work I completely adore): The 12 Week Challenge. Basically, it'll be "an opportunity to make amazing progress towards your goal of becoming a full time professional illustrator". Everything's run by a lovely couple and they're already in week 4. I must say I just completed week 1, 2 (which was very interesting for me, since we had to prepare an OGSM plan, which I'd never done before) and 3. I'm a bit behind week 4 and with the trip I'll be taking from tomorrow till Wednesday, I'll end up waaaay behind. There's also a community for the project, where I should drop by more often. I sincerely think that this adorable couple has had an amazing idea preparing all this and making it available to anyone. I really like them.

Apart from Zero2illo, I'd like to recommend Escape from Illustration Island and its two tutorials (by now) about the creation of a good portfolio here and here. Let's see if all this gives me the final impetus to building my website before the year finishes!
