SORTEO: Cuando los Sueños Despiertan

Raquel es una chica muy bonica, madrileña de nacimiento, valenciana de corazón y, sobre todo, mamá desde hace dos añitos. De hecho, fue a raíz de tener a su BB que comenzó su blog CUANDO LOS SUEÑOS DESPIERTAN para hablar libremente de las cosas buenas y las no tan buenas de cuidar de su pequeñajillo, además de compartir recetas, viajes, experiencias, etc.

Hace unos pocos días, su blog estrenó diseño y, para celebrarlo, ha organizado un sorteo que tiene una pinta excelente y en el que tengo el honor de participar. ¡Animáos a participar, que es muy sencillo y los premios son una cucada!

Ally escribe y teje mucho (y lo hace muy bien), y la podéis encontrar en su blog 52 Propósitos, donde sobre todo publica críticas de los muchísimos libros que lee (y es por esto, entre otras muchas cosas, por lo que la admiro un montón).

Empujoncitos // Little pushes

Este curso me estoy centrando más en la ilustración. Llevaba desde 2006 prácticamente sólo haciendo animación, pero cuando septiembre llegó y sin ningún trabajo a la vista, decidí apuntarme al curso de Ilustración Profesional impartido en la ESAT.Lo cierto es que lo estoy disfrutando mucho y voy aprendiendo un montón de cosas muy útiles e interesantes. Nunca pensé que me fuera a atraer el trabajo como autónomo pero la verdad es que ahora pienso que ojalá pueda ganarme la vida así.

Aparte de este curso, el otro día encontré esto a través del blog de Melanie Matthews (que me gusta una barbaridad): The 12 Week Challenge. Básicamente serán una serie de "tutoriales" a seguir que pretenden darte la oportunidad de acercarte el máximo posible a la meta de convertirte en un ilustrador profesional. Lo llevan una pareja bastante adorable y ya están por la semana 4. He de decir que de momento sólo he completado la semana 1, 2 (la cual me resultó muy interesante puesto que propone crearse un OGSM plan - Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Measures) y 3. Con la 4 voy un poco por detrás y con el viaje que me voy a pegar desde mañana hasta el miércoles, aún me quedaré más en la cola. También existe una comunidad para el proyecto, por donde debería pasarme más. Creo que, sinceramente, esta parejita ha tenido una buena idea preparando todo esto y además, haciéndolo accesible a todo el mundo. Me caen bastante bien.

Aparte de Zero2illo, me gustaría por último recomendar Escape from Illustration Island y sus dos tutoriales (de momento) para la creación de un buen portfolio aquí y aquí. ¡A ver si todo esto me sirve de empujón final para que de este año no pase el hacerme la página web!

This year I'm focusing more on illustration. I had been practically just doing animation since 2006, but September came and I still had no job, so I decided to sign up for the Professional Illustration course given at the ESAT. Truth is, I'm really enjoying it and I'm learning tons of useful and interesting stuff. I never thought I'd be attracted to the freelance way of life but, actually, now I wish I could be able to make a living out of my artwork that way.

Apart from that course, I found this the other day at Melanie Matthews's blog (whose work I completely adore): The 12 Week Challenge. Basically, it'll be "an opportunity to make amazing progress towards your goal of becoming a full time professional illustrator". Everything's run by a lovely couple and they're already in week 4. I must say I just completed week 1, 2 (which was very interesting for me, since we had to prepare an OGSM plan, which I'd never done before) and 3. I'm a bit behind week 4 and with the trip I'll be taking from tomorrow till Wednesday, I'll end up waaaay behind. There's also a community for the project, where I should drop by more often. I sincerely think that this adorable couple has had an amazing idea preparing all this and making it available to anyone. I really like them.

Apart from Zero2illo, I'd like to recommend Escape from Illustration Island and its two tutorials (by now) about the creation of a good portfolio here and here. Let's see if all this gives me the final impetus to building my website before the year finishes!
